Awards Season
People have been asking me if I watched the Oscars, and the short answer is: I napped on the couch while the TV was on and didn’t see any chasing, fetching, swimming, or treats. I was certainly pleased to see that Slumdog Millionaire and Wall-E did well. I’ll be more interested in the Genesis Awards (at least I might get to see some dogs) and the No Animals Were Harmed rankings (I’m glad to see Marley & Me, Appaloosa, and okay, even The Dark Knight were recognized). The Oscars are kind of like Westminster: a display of genetic quirks that some imperfect perfectionist somewhere has decided are desirable, all gussied up for the camera. Why should I care? There are too many other things to sniff in the world. Start including dogs -- heck, anything on four legs -- and I might pay attention.
